<summary>What's this all about? Give me the TL;DR.</summary>

**Cryptoart is building the first tokenized art print collection.**<br>

* Tokenized art prints can live in two forms: physically on a wall or onchain in a market.&#x20;
* Tokenization solves the biggest problems with collecting limited edition prints: provenance, portability, and enforcing scarcity.
* Every work in the collection is human-created, crypto-aligned, and made without AI.
* Market -> Wall: Token holders can convert their tokens into [physical](https://cryptoart.com/collections/all) limited edition art prints by vaulting their tokens onchain. Vaulted tokens are removed from the market for at least 150 days. The physical print is shipped directly from [Cryptoart.com](https://cryptoart.com).
* Wall -> Market:  Physical holders can un-vault the token by invalidating the physical print, returning the work to onchain markets.&#x20;
* Collectors can permanently attach [stories](/cryptoart/tokens/stories.md) to tokens, evolving the cultural chain of provenance as works move between owners.
* We use light scarcity mechanics to enforce scarcity and incentivize the [burn](broken://pages/40uzp5RAB2g1EVDtVMHX) of weaker images for stronger images.  Supply expansion has [required floor price](broken://pages/40uzp5RAB2g1EVDtVMHX) unlocks.&#x20;
* Holders receive clear [IP usage rights](/cryptoart/project/terms.md).
* The collection is seeded by tokenizing the original Cryptoart physicals created from 2013 to 2020. &#x20;
* We're building non-tribal: Ethereum for the contract, IPFS and Bitcoin for media permanence, and crypto/web3 culture as the source of subject matter.

<details>

<summary>Can all the tokens found on OpenSea be converted into a physical art print?</summary>

No.

A small number of tokens are already paired with physical art prints, but are not locked in the vault. These are tokens claimed by owners of Legacy Cryptoart physicals.

If you only want the token and do not care about converting it into a new physical print, these are for you.

How can I tell? Check the token metadata before buying.

Tokens with `REDEEMABLE = TRUE` can be converted into a physical art print.

Tokens with`REDEEMABLE = FALSE` are already paired with a physical print and cannot be converted into a new one unless the existing physical is invalidated.

Use the [Supply Page](https://cryptoart.com/supply) to look up the token before purchasing it.

<summary>Cryptoart vs. Legacy Cryptoart</summary>

From 2013 to 2020, we created a total of [6564](https://app.cryptoart.com/supply) physical art pieces. These were numbered limited edition prints that merged art with cold storage. Yes, they contained a wallet and you can put your Bitcoin in the art. These pieces are now considered **Legacy Cryptoart**..

In 2026, we updated the format to support tokenization. Instead of concealing a wallet, each new art print conceals a vault unlock code. Accessing that code invalidates the physical print and allows the holder to un-vault a paired token.

To seed the tokenized collection, we acquired approximately 2,500 original Cryptoart prints. These include unsold pieces from the original archive as well as pieces acquired from original collectors.

Legacy collectors who wish to sell or convert their art to the new tokenized format should [contact us](https://cryptoart.com/pages/contact).<br>

<summary>Common questions about Market -> Wall</summary>

I'm about to convert my token (NFT) into a physical art print. What exactly happens when I send the token to Cryptoart?

* We will hold your token until you complete checkout. If you don't checkout within 14 days, we will automatically return the token to the sending address.
* After checkout, we will send your token in a non-custodial onchain vault and create the [physical](https://cryptoart.com/collections/cryptoart).
* We will ship your art piece.

Can I change my mind? Yes, but timing matters:

* If you get cold feet before we ship the art piece, [contact support](https://cryptoart.com/pages/contact) and we will stop the order, refund your payment, and return the token to the sending address.
* If you don't like the physical, [contact support](https://cryptoart.com/pages/contact) within 30 days for a refund and return of the token. We pay for return shipping in the US. International customers should contact us and we'll try to make it right. [Refer to Rights and Terms.](/cryptoart/project/terms.md)
* After 150 days, you can sell your art without making a physical shipment. The vault has a 150 day lock. Refer to [Wall -> Market](/cryptoart/between-walls-and-markets/wall-to-market.md).
* If your physical is lost or damaged in transit, contact us ASAP.

#### Legacy Cryptoart (created 2013-2020)

<details>

<summary>I own a physical legacy Cryptoart piece, how do I claim my token?</summary>

[Use this form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScIAU_v50fHmSdZNazQSF1BMHDblZIGQ0KT0VIkST9FMkDofg/viewform?usp=header).&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>Is there a time limit to claim my token?</summary>

We have no plans to expire token claims; however, if AI makes it too difficult for us to verify your physical via a video, we may need to reevaluate. &#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens if I don't claim my token?</summary>

Nothing.  Your physical piece and certificate of authenticity remain valid provenance.  If you do decide to claim your token in the future, keep in mind it takes some time. &#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>What are my options if I claim my token?</summary>

* Keep it with my physical.  This gives you some enhanced provenance.  You can also [add stories to your token](/cryptoart/tokens/stories.md). &#x20;
* Hold it. This gives you flexibility to see if it becomes valuable. Also, you may be able to trade the token for another (non-legacy) token when we make new drops.
* Sell it. If a market emerges, you can sell your token on a marketplace like [OpenSea](https://opensea.io/collection/cryptoart-30).

</details>

<details>

<summary>Will the token I received be paired or unpaired?</summary>

Paired. This is because you are in possession of the physical. This is evident in the metadata: `Redeemable = FALSE` .

</details>

<details>

<summary>If I sell my token, can someone make a new art piece with the same edition number?</summary>

No.  This is because the token you claim is already paired with your physical.  If you sell it, it will be forever paired with your physical art piece (even though they have different owners). &#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>If I sell my token will my physical art piece be worth less?</summary>

This will be for the market to decide. Anyone can look up a specific edition on our [supply page](https://app.cryptoart.com/supply) to determine if a physical has been claimed.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How do I unpair a token with a legacy physical?</summary>

You can't- not yet at least.  If we do allow that option in the future, it would involve destroying the physical art piece.  Tokens can only be paired with one physical at any given time.&#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>I am about to buy a legacy physical IRL, how do I check to see if a token has already been claimed for it?</summary>

Check the [supply page](https://app.cryptoart.com/supply).  You will need the edition number and size of the art piece. &#x20;

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why would anyone want an token that is already paired?</summary>

Degen NFT collectors may not care about a physical version. Also, you may be able to trade the token for another token (that isn't paired) when we make new drops.
